Computer Death (and Zombies, maybe)

SO. My computer blew up last week. Again. This last was the third one I've had in 2 years, by the way (goddamn HP pieces of shit... *mumbles to self*)

Luckily, it's not all bad. My dad ordered me a new computer. Yay! It should be here in the next week or so. This one is a Studio 15. Not one I've had before, but we'll see. I'll never go with HP again, though. They always die on me, and the warranty fulfillment thing is dumb as fuck.

Also! I found out that I can buy a USB Hard Drive Enclosure, pop the hard drive out of my dead computer, and use it as an external hard drive.
Sweet, right? They only cost about $40 bucks, and I'll be able to have all the data from my old compy. Including those stories that I was working on. Which I was afraid I was going to lose.

So that's, ya know... that.

One last thing: I found some websites that may be useful in the very real chance that the Zombie Apocalypse does occur.

The Undead Report
Off Grid Survival

Read up, friends.  It gonna happen.  Internet said so.

Just a "friendly remainder"...

uh
Got an e-mail from the Geography instructor today. The class starts tomorrow, in case you didn't know (which I'm sure you didn't :P). Here's the message:

This is friendly remainder. The World Regional Geography Course (11376) start tomorrow. Begin by going the Resource Section in Angel and clicking on the Course Syllabus. Just a case, I send Geo Syllabus (see attachment) Please, read, print and bring hard copy tomorrow.

This makes me nervous. Anyone else?

Romantic Seme... wut?

You are a Romantic Seme!

A true romantic, you're safest sticking with a partner who is gentle and can appreciate your mature, loving ways and protective nature. Most often found with a handful of roses and wine, you are committed to your partner and their happiness, which makes you a perfect match for the Innocent Uke, who you will dedicate yourself to and lavish with gifts and attention.

Most compatible with: Innocent Uke, Clueless Uke

Least compatible with: Badass Uke, Dramatic Uke

I gotta tell ya... I'm a bit confused. When did I become a seme? How can this be?

...

It's cold up here.

Furry Day

HAD MUCH FUN TODAY. Kevin picked up Kiro, Desmund and I, and we all went bowling and out to eat with the Bradenton Furs. I met and talked with some pretty fantastic people.

Shelby is a major Rocky Horror/Repo! fan. Awesome.  She reminds me of Alyssa Cupo a bit (not in a bad way... but in that she attracts all manner of drama.).

This guy named Moo, he had a bin of Magic cards that he was supposedly getting rid of, and he let us have a bunch of them.  He taught me how to dance.  And he gives really good head rubs. (He = my new favorite person)

I just got home a little while ago. We were at Wing House FOREVER just talking about so much random crap.  It was great.

Some of the topics of discussion included:
~ leg hair
~ the zombie apocalypse
~ whether or not stubble is a good thing to have
~ chicks with facial hair
~ wording of Magic cards
~ how messed up we all are

Furries are, like.... the epitome of awesome.

I spent most of today in the ER.

(most of the day = 5.5 hours)

My mom woke up this morning with a weird bump on her head, accompanied by a very severe headache. She was a little worried, so I drove her to the emergency room. We were there for about 2 hours before we were seen. They did a CT scan and everything, but it came back negative. Turns out the bump on her head is just a bit of folliculitis (infection of the hair follicle). The headache was unrelated, and they weren't sure what that was about. But they gave her some IV painkillers, and a prescription for more.

Guess which painkiller she gets to take. Go on... guess.

I'll give you a hint. It starts with a V, and ends with an -ICODIN.

Fuck. I want some.

EDIT: Turns out it was shingles. You'd think the doctors in the ER would have been able to figure that out, but apparently not.  My mom didn't know what was wrong until she went to see her regular doctor.  ER FAIL.

Oh, the many ways that the government finds to screw the common folk.

Did you know that they recently changed a law in Winter Haven (FL) so that the cost of firefighters and police is not covered by taxes?

Now I know that we're in an economic crisis right now. I know this. But come on! Why should people pay extra for things that cops and firefighters are supposed to do in the first place?

Not that I pay taxes now. But I have in the past, and when I do so in the future, I would like that money to go to something worthwhile. Say, making sure people do the jobs that we already pay them to do.

For those of you that don't know: Taxes = money we pay the government to give away to big companies. The big companies then throw that money into a fire.

Why am I up at 2 am writing about this?

Dolphins: Your Actual Mammal

In a stunning display of badassery, literally thousands of dolphins rose out of the water in the Gulf of Aden on April 15th, effectively blocking Somalian pirate ships from attacking a group of Chinese merchant ships and once again proving that dolphins are:
a) much, much better than humans at peaceful negotiation
and
b) the only hope for the salvation of the human race.

In other news, there's a rumor floating around that there may be a second Dr. Horrible webseries. Possibly a movie, too. Anyone else hear about this?

In other (x2) news, I basically had NO WEEKEND.  I woke up at six on Saturday (earlier than I get up during the week), 'cause I had to go mark the trail for the autism walk/run. I held up traffic in Lakewood Ranch for about 30 minutes.  It was sweet - I could practically see the veins in the drivers' heads exploding. Professor Midget would be have been proud.

After that I went back and helped my mom man one of those inflatable death jumphouse things. Not so sweet.

I was way too tired to do anything else for the rest of the day. I'm very sad that I missed out on the flea market and furry bowling. *sigh*

Sunday found my family and I cleaning the entire house. (My family = my mom and I. Bill would NEVER clean the house... he considers it beneath him. And he is most definitely not a part of MY family.) We had guests over that night, so the house had to be spotless.

When the couple arrived that night, only the man was polite enough to introduce himself to me. He only gave me his last name though, 'cause apparently, being 20, I'm not yet old enough to call people by their first name. My mom later told me his first name was Dick. He was all sunken and old and creepy - I've never met anyone who looked so much like a zombie in my life. Seriously... Dickhead is one creepy bastard.

Yeah... so ended my weekend. It was crap.

I feel so drained. And it's only Monday.

How will I ever get through this week?

StumbledUpon this today. There's an actual Superhero store in Brooklyn. How cool is that?

So, uh... where's the Supervillian store?

Obama Owns Your Interwebs

I found an article online today. Thought it might be interesting to a few of you.

Apparently, Senator Jay Rockefeller and Olivia Snow are attempting to pass a couple of bills through congress.  These bills would give the President powers that would allow him "to access private online data, regulate the cybersecurity industry and even shut down Internet traffic during a declared "cyber emergency.""

I don't know about you guys, but that seems a little scary to me. My liberal ideals balk at the possibility of censorship or monitoring by the government on the Nets. These bills are even more terrifying, given that they don't clearly identify what restrictions the president would have in this area.

Also, what would be declared a "cyber emergency"? I can't think of any situation that would qualify.
(Could you imagine the outrage if the government actually shut down internet traffic? Holy Jesus.)

Full article here.

What do you think, guys? Is this going to be a censorship issue? Violation of first amendment rights and all that? Or are these merely steps that need to be taken to ensure our protection?

Yeah, I, uh... totally forgot to put on the mask.  Shit.
I only realized this afterward, though.  And I wasn't about to record the whole damn thing over again.

Whatever.
